Chester at Christmas: Why we love our City even more at this time of year

There’s something truly magical about Chester when December arrives. The twinkling lights, the cosy cafés, and the buzz of the Christmas Market remind us why this city is such a special place to call home, especially during the festive season.

The Chester Christmas Market brings the heart of the city to life with wooden chalets, local makers, and the smell of mulled wine and warm treats drifting through the air. For anyone thinking of moving to Chester, it’s the perfect chance to see the community spirit that makes this area so welcoming.

Closer to home, places like Hoole, Handbridge and Boughton take on their own festive charm. From festive street lights, independent shops decorating their windows and neighbours lighting up their homes, each part of the city feels full of warmth and personality.

Christmas is also the perfect time for community events, like the Hoole Community Centre Winter Market (on 6th December). It’s a great place to do some Christmas shopping, enjoy festive treats, sip a glass of mulled wine, and soak up the Christmas spirit with live music, free kids’ activities and crafting.

For us at Fearnalls, this is one of our favourite times of year to celebrate the area we work in every day. Whether you’re house hunting, preparing to sell in the New Year, or simply enjoying the season, we hope you get the chance to experience the best of Chester at Christmas.

Because a city that feels this wonderful in winter is a city worth coming home to all year round.
